What are Pierogies?
Pierogi are a small little pillow European dumpling, that can be filled with either sweet or savory filling, and then cooked. When I first found these yummy dumplings in the frozen food section of my local supermarket, I was so excited to try these in the air fryer. The pierogies I found were just potatoes and cheese, but that was more than enough flavor. They do sell them frozen, and stuffed with other ingredients, like beef, cheddar, sauerkraut, and onion, to name a few. I use Kasia’s brand, and they crisp so beautifully in the air fryer.
What you need to make air fryer pierogies
To make these, you will need an air fryer. I made these frozen pierogies in my Cosori Air Fryer - 5.8 quart. Cooking them from frozen only takes 12 minutes, and slightly thawed, cooking time is about 10 minutes. Although you can make this recipe from scratch, I used frozen already made pierogies to keep this a quick snack or simple meal. Besides the pierogies, you will need an air fryer, and about one tablespoon of olive oil. Other optional ingredients needed depend on what you want to serve with your pierogies. I like mine just as they are and serve them with sour cream for dipping. For a more traditional Polish topping, you can use caramelized onions, mushrooms, sausage, cabbage, or even vegetables.

Once they are lightly coated with olive oil, cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes until they have a golden, crispy texture. Turn them over halfway through cooking. Can I make Frozen Pierogies without oil?
Most air fryer baskets are non-stick, so if you really don’t want to use oil, you can go without. I found the oil helps them to have a crispy texture.
My air fryer didn’t cook them the same. What did I do wrong?
Not all air fryers are the same. Wattages can be different, so the first time you try this recipe, do a cooking time trial. Start with 7-10 minutes, and then an additional 2-4 minutes until they are golden and have a crisp texture.
Can I re-heat pierogies?
Keep leftovers in an airtight container, and reheat them for 3-4 minutes until they are hot. MORE DELICIOUS AIR FRYER RECIPES:
